We thought it might be fun to have a puncture sweepstake. Let us know how many punctures you think we're likely to get over 6 months. The winner gets a tacky South American souvenir of our choice, painting of Machu Picchu on a grain of rice, miniature panpipes, alpaca poncho and other 'things that money can't buy' surprises.
Post your bets on our comments page and we'll keep a running tally as we go along.

ReplyDeleteI reckon you'll have 3 punctures each - 6 in total?!
Good luck on the trip - what an amazing adventure... looking forward to tracking your progress.

Hang on... I've just finished Al Humphreys' books and realised how ridiculous my previous guess was because he was having 3 a day by the end! Please can I change my entry to 20 each 40 in total!
ReplyDeleteHI Guys,
ReplyDeleteI hope that you have the most amazing trip, without too many injuries. My guess is going to be 15 in total. Enjoy every minute of your fab adventure and look forward to reading all about it on here. Take care of yourselves. Lots of luck and love Div xoxo
I will say 38. Can you send me your acc. details too please for oyster. tom.h.gilbert@thomsonreuters.com
ReplyDelete37, Ha! Tom you'll be pissed off if I'm right. Can we have an update from the ACTUAL trip now, jeeez
ReplyDeleteSounds like the carbo/protein loading in BA went according to plan, and was a lot of fun.
ReplyDeleteWe reckon 52 punctures in total: 32 for Ben (just plain careless) and 20 for Laura.
Hope all's going well in Ushaia. Have a great time, and as Jimmy Saville (probably) once said "Cycle safely".
I was convinced you'd stay in BA and DHL the bikes home!! Best of luck - hope it's going well so far.
ReplyDeleteI guess 35 punctures but challenge you to get as many helpful locals (where possible) to repair them for you...making the most of your Spanish (and lycra outfits)!
Lots of love
Grace xxx
